Midigama & surrounds
Midigama sits between Ahangama and Weligama — close enough to both for food, nightlife, or a change of scene, quiet enough to actually hear yourself think. Here's what's worth knowing within reach of the hotel.
Surf breaks
Right-hand reef
Directly opposite the hotel · 30 seconds
The headline break. A barreling right-hander over shallow reef — best at 4–6ft, not for beginners. Watch it from the rooftop, paddle out in two minutes. The reason most people are here.
Right-hand point
5 min walk
Long, workable rights. More forgiving than Rams and often less crowded. Good for intermediate surfers and logging. Named for the rubber tree plantation behind the break.
Left-hand reef
5 min walk
A mellow left for those who actually want to enjoy themselves. Consistent, not heavy. Good on smaller swells when Rams is flat or blown out.
Right-hand reef
5 min walk
Sister break to Lazy Left. Fun, uncrowded, good for longboards and anyone learning to read reef. Often works on the same swell as Rams but at a fraction of the intensity.
Beach break
5 min walk
Sandy bottom. Forgiving. The beginner-friendly option in the lineup — good for first reef-adjacent sessions without the stakes. Banks shift with the season.

Solid Italian food in a surf-themed setting. Popular with the expat crowd. Decent pizza if you've had your fill of kottu. Good vibe in the evenings.
Specialty coffee
Weligama · 5 min tuk-tuk
Rotating small-batch specialty beans. The only place in the area taking coffee seriously. Worth a tuk-tuk ride if you know what a V60 is.
Mexican · 4 min
Family kitchen · 4.8★ · $$
Family-run restaurant adjacent to Plantations break. Eclectic menu. Good burritos, good vibe. Known for being friendly and consistent.
Nightlife

Both towns have bars, live music, and restaurants once the sun goes down. Midigama itself is quiet at night — which is usually what you want after a full day in the water.
